I'm taking a break from fashion today to talk about something a little more serious.

Sorrow plagued my hometown this past week as community members heard 12 year old Marissa Miller passed away unexpectedly during a soccer practice. Later we found out that she had an undiscovered congenital heart abnormality. With a motto "Be kind. Work Hard. Have Fun." Marissa loved sports and was a dedicated athlete.

 Marissa's sister Ciara Miller, wanted to make sure her story was heard. ESPN does a Sports Center top 10 and our community would love to have Marrissa's spin floater as one of the video clips! Monday night #ESPNforMarissa trended in the USA and even had players from the NBA retweet to help with the cause.

I do believe however that even a hash tag and getting her video played on national TV is not enough. After hearing Marissa's story I realized that she was a healthy happy girl with dreams and because of a heart abnormality many of those dreams won't get to happen. We should all be raising money to help research on heart abnormality's which could lead to early detection in others. This could save lives, one heart at a time!

We could start our own Foundation to give money to research or donate to many of the ones already out in the world. A small town in WV got a hash tag to trend in the US, who says we couldn't raise thousands to help this cause! You all know now that you have a voice and it's important to use that voice for a good cause.

My thoughts and prayers go out to Marissa's friends and Family. I can't even begin to imagine what this is like for them and pray that they stay strong throughout this time of grieve. No one should have to deal with losing a loved one especially such young one.
